The queen of hill stations, Ooty at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level, the climate here is salubrious throughout the year. The days are balmy and the nights are chilly.

Day 1 Ooty

Pick up from the airport and move towards Ooty and on arrival, check-in at the hotel there.

After rest set out for following sightseeing.

Rosegarden

Walk through the pruned bushes, blooming flower beds, and lush lawns of Rose Garden, a well-maintained park showcasing an extensive range of plant life. With around 3,600 varieties of roses, the garden possesses one of the largest such collections in the country, including many rare species and unusually colored hybrids.

Lake

Ooty Lake remains one of the major tourist attractions in town. Created through a network of artificial dams constructed in 1824, the lake encompasses 26.3 hectares (65 acres). A boathouse in the middle of the lake offers refreshments and water sports rentals. Choose your mode of water transport–paddle, row, or motorboat–and cast off on the lake for a trip away from the crowds.

St. Stephen’s Church

Built-in 1829 exclusively for the British, the church features huge wooden beams hauled from a defeated sultan’s palace 120 km (74.5 mi) away. Slim pointed arch windows with stained glass have images of Virgin Mary, Last Supper, crucifixion, and angels. The church has no traditional bell but uses four hammers instead moved by wires pulled from the floor. An overgrown cemetery behind the church features graves of many scions of British families, soldiers, administrators, and traders.

Note   Doddabetta Peak (an option for those who like to do hiking) is the highest peak in South India lies at an altitude of 8,606 feet. It is one of the major tourist attractions and is located at a distance of 10 kms from Ooty. You can have a beautiful view of the Nilgiris from here. You can use the telescope to get a closer mesmerizing view of the mountain.

Day 2 Ooty

Sim`s Park

Sim`s Park, a lush attraction in the heart of Connor. Boasting more than a 1,000 species of tropical plants, the park is a colorful sanctuary with a hillside location. Enjoy a quiet ramble through a well-kept botanical landscape, keeping a keen eye out for the crimson-tinted rosefinch, often found on the aromatic branches of the Cinnamomum trees scattered across the park. Established in 1874, the garden remains a popular spot and can get quite busy on the weekends. Restrooms and concessions are located on site.

Dolphin’s Nose

Enjoy a scenic drive to Dolphin’s Nose, culminating in breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape and waterfalls. After a winding drive through tea plantations, you’ll reach the lookout point, a huge rock formation resembling the nose of a dolphin. The viewpoint sits at 304 m (1,000 ft) above sea level. Try to visit early in the morning to avoid the crowds and snap some fantastic photographs.

Places to visit in Coonoor are a mix of tea plantations, gardens, dams, and churches. Like mentioned before, Coonoor is known for its Nilgiri tea and it is natural that you might want to get up close and personal with the process of its making and tasting. Highfield Tea Estate comes to your rescue here. One of the very few functional Nilgiri tea makers which is open for public visitations, Highfield Tea Estate is just 2 km northeast of upper Coonoor. With its history that runs into more than half a decade, this tea estate is a heritage site in the hill station.

Day 3  Mysuru

After breakfast check out and move towards Mysuru. On arrival, Check -in at the hotel there.

Chamundi hill.

Sri Chamundeshwari Temple has located 13 km from Mysuru on a small hill. Atop of the hill,  ‘Chamundi’ or ‘Durga’ is shown as the fierce form of ‘Shakti’. She is the slayer of demons, ‘Chanda’ and ‘Munda’ and also ‘Mahishasura’, the buffalo-headed monster.Chamundeshwari is revered for generations by the maharajas of Mysore and the importance can be understood by the fact that when Mysore Palace was built, it builds to face the Chamundi Hills.

LALITHA MAHAL PALACE

While returning from Chamundi Hills make a short detour towards Lalitha Mahal Palace. Built-in 1921 by Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV for the then Viceroy of India and other European guests. At present this palace is a heritage hotel and guests at the hotel can enjoy their stay with a grand view of Chamundi Hills.

Afternoon visit Local market of Mysuru

Evening Visit Brindavan garden.

Spread across 60 acres, the beautifully landscaped garden with lots of fountains which was built next to Krishna Raja Sagara Dam in the year 1932.   It is also known for its symmetric design and the Musical and dancing fountain.You can also go for boating in the secondary reservoir of the dam.

Day 4 Mysuru

Rail museum.

This museum has a good collection of locomotives including that of an Austin Railway Car. It’s a good place to spend some time looking at the history of railways of our nation’s history.

JAGANMOHAN PALACE AND ART GALLERY

Initially, this was the residence of the Wodeyar Maharaja while the Mysore Palace was being constructed in 1861 by Krishnaraja Wodeyar III. After the renovation and reconstruction of Mysore Palace, the Maharaja along with his family moved out of this place and then this palace was transformed into an art gallery in 1915 which was later renamed as Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery. The main highlight of this art gallery is its collection of Ravi Verma paintings which is a must see if you are in town.

St. Philomena’s Church

The 200year old St. Philomena’s Church in Mysore is one of the oldest churches in India. When the capital of Mysore state was move from Srirangapatnam to Mysore city in 1799, many British officers and soldiers came and settled down in Mysore. The Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar III realized the need for a Christian church for these people and granted the piece of land to build the church. The entire church is built in the Gothic style is one of the largest Cathedrals in South Asia. The Church has the relic of the 3rd century St. Philomena that is in a beautiful catacomb that is below the main altar.
